Naples, Fl (November 7, 2023) Youth Haven, Inc. is pleased to announce its continued partnership with Fostering Success.
Fostering Success, formerly Friends of Foster Children Forever, provides educational and enrichment opportunities that assist in the future success of foster children between the ages of zero to 23. Fostering Success will continue to provide academic mentoring services to children placed at Youth Haven with open Collier County dependency cases. The tutoring services provided are being donated at no charge to Youth Haven. Each child will be assessed, matched with an Academic Mentor (independent contractor of Fostering Success) for academic tutoring, and evaluated every six months using KTEA-3 assessments. 100% of Fostering Success students have seen an improvement in at least one subject area.
Youth Haven, located in Naples, is Southwest Florida’s only residential shelter for children and teens removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or homelessness. With beds for up to 70 youth, Youth Haven accepts new residents 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Established in 1972, Youth Haven provides programs that create transformational change. Studies have shown that youth in the foster care system are more likely than their peers to experience difficulty in school due to a lack of stability and exposure to trauma. Issues include poor grades, a high rate of grade retention, and lower high school graduation rates. To help combat this issue, Youth Haven launched a campus Homework Hub in January 2022, where the youth can receive tutoring services from Fostering Success, review homework and projects, and maintain close contact with the Collier County School District and individual schools.
