Naples, FL (March 3, 2020)
Youth Haven is pleased to announce it has received a $30,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Collier County. These funds will support Youth Haven’s partnership with Think:Kids: Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) for Youth program.
Youth Haven has implemented CPS, a strengths-based, neurobiologically-grounded approach to conflict resolution with traumatized children. In CPS, staff are trained to adopt the belief that children “would if they could,” and this belief, combined with an array of techniques to help children build skills, leads to improvements in behavior and other functional areas for traumatized children. The funds received from The Community Foundation of Collier County will allow Youth Haven to continue to engage with Think:Kids, a program in the Department of Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and continue to guide Youth Haven through the CPS training process.
“Youth Haven is grateful for the support it has received from The Community Foundation of Collier County, says Jinx Liggett, Youth Haven Executive Director. “This generous donation will allow our staff to continue our three-year commitment to training and coaching. We are dedicated to this culture shift for our entire campus in how we collaborate with our children & teens to reduce their challenging behaviors.”
The Community Foundation of Collier County awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Changing Needs Fund. This Fund is made up of donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to identify and grant to the most community’s most current needs.
